Why Practice Being Mindful?
The way you become more mindful is through practice.
Practising being mindful can be compared to strengthening your muscles, but for your mind. Being mindful reminds you to trust yourself, your intuition and to listening to your inner guide to lead the way.
Developing methods that you can use to consciously direct your attention to the present moment will help you be more mindful day to day.
These practices can be used to help you to deal with difficult emotions or mental confusion. When you practice being mindful you become aware of your actions and thought patterns. You become more receptive of that makes you feel good and what does not.
Mindfulness helps to reduce stress and anxiety. As a result, practising mindfulness has even shown to reduce depression in clinical trials, and shown to be as effective as medications.
Considering the practice of mindfulness is about self discovery and awareness, it helps to improve your emotional and social development while increasing empathy and compassion. This of course further improves your relationships with others.
If you can imagine the possibility of change and have the openness to try—then you have already started a journey to heal your mind. Ask yourself, what bad habits or thoughts should be replaced by good ones?
