Mindful March Challenge

Mindful March Challenge

This month we challenge YOU to try and practice being more mindful!

Everyday this month pick ONE activity or method to practice being more mindful and present. Or choose a different activity or method at the beginning of every week and make that your main focus for the week.

The goal is to try different techniques and activities that practice being mindful. The challenge is aimed to help you find the methods that work best for you.

Here is a list of activities and methods to choose from to help you get started, or if you get stuck coming up with your own:

  • Practice yoga: notice your breathe and how you feel in your body
  • Eat more mindfully by getting rid of distractions such as the television or your cell phone
  • Practice meditation: first start small with shorter time periods or listen to a guided mediation for help
  • Start your day with gentile stretching and observe how your body feel
  • Go for a walk in nature and take notice of your surroundings
  • Go out for a meal with friends or family without checking any devices
  • Unplug from your devices and reflect
  • Get creative and spend some time drawing, painting or even one of those DIY’s you have been looking at
  • Journal about your day or anything that comes to your mind
  • Create a mantra you can repeat to yourself at the start of your day
  • Workout or go for a run without any music
  •  Set a 5-10 minute timer and just focus on your breathe
  • Make a list at the beginning or end of everyday listing what you are grateful for
  • Call a friend
  • Start your day without checking emails or your phone until you have eaten or had coffee/tea

The key is to TRY!

Try to be mindful during different activities, try different periods of your day... just try.

It may not be easy at first, some days may not be as easy as others, but being mindful is an ongoing process that requires constant practice.

If you find any of the activities or methods come more naturally or feel easier than others you've tried, keep practising it. Another good idea is to keep a journal reflecting about your experience during this challenge, list which methods worked or didn’t work at all for you. Keep track of your progress and reflect on how you feel.

Let us know what you try, what your favourite methods were, or your least favourites.

GOODLUCK
